And if I die in Raleigh, atleast I will die free.

Whew. Super glad that this week is over with! I had my midterm for my sociology class this morning. (Deviant social behavior) A lot of the information in that class are theories. And those just bore me. haha. But I think I did ok. Let's see, after the test I came back to my room, and fixed some lunch. Then at 2:15 me, and this other girl Morgan went around campus to put up flyers for our interest meeting for "Whee Teach" on campus.

If anyone from WCU is reading this, and has any interest in teaching, and is an Education major. You should totally come by our interest meeting at 6:30 on Monday in Killian 104. Hope to see y'all there!

Let's see... Day 7 a list of blog goals:

I guess the biggest goal of mine for my blog is to have a place to vent, and to collect some thoughts. I like to go back and read older posts. Let's see I guess also just keeping up with this thing, would be another goal of mine.

That's all for tonight folks, it might be an early night for this old gal.

Day 6...least favorite words

Today has been a day, I have been working non-stop ever since I got back from class this afternoon at 12:30. I did manage to fit in a 30-minute nap, write 2-2 page papers, and write on the blog! I'm taking a dinner break right now that will consist of, heading to the library, watching one tv show, eat dinner, and then that will be it. Because, I have to study for my SOC 250 test that is on Thursday. SOC 250 consists of, "Deviant Social Behavior" it's a fun class, but right now it's all theories, and that just bores me. haha. oh well, it'll be over with before I know it.

Day 6: Least favorite words. As most of you know there are two words that I absolutely hate, so I'll write those down first. Others, are completely random, and come right off the top of my head.

- Chunky
- Bucks (in reference to money)
- moist
- sweet (in reference to Oh, sweet!) that's annoying.
- retarded
- permutations

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of for right now.

Have a nice day y'all!

"Crash Into Me" by good ol' Dave Matthews

Sorry there was no posting yesterday. I came back to school yesterday, spent two hours unpacking, did some homework, and went to bed early. haha. Sidenote: I walked into church yesterday and it was raining. When I walked out of church it was snowing...I think this might be a sign that our "Spring Break" was too early. haha.

4th Day of lists...

Topic: What you are looking forward to doing this weekend.

- Getting atleast one hour extra of sleep, so that way I don't lose any sleep on Sunday for when we "spring" forward.

- Possibly heading out to MTC for their flight with Brookie.

- Getting some homework done for next week.

- Staying up late, and sleeping in late.

- Church on Sunday.

- That's all I can think of for right now.

Until next time y'all!

:)

Go Clemson!, and Carolina!

Well, it's my last night at home for "Spring" Break 2011. I have throughly enjoyed myself. I've been busy seeing friends, and getting to catch up with them! Let's recap what happened this week...Friday: packed the car, 2 classes, and came home. -Saturday: chilled at home, had dinner with the parentals. -Sunday: Church. -Monday: Hairs Cut, and going on excursions with my friend Dawn. -Tuesday: Reunion Group. -Wednesday: Shooting my first gun ever, and trying deer for the first time with Michael. -Thursday: Coffee with Andrew, and running errands around town. -Friday: Lunch with Adam, and Becca at Papas and Beer. So bring it on. haha. I go from March 7th - April 20th without a break (except for the weekends, of course). Then I'll be home for 5 days. Then go back to school for a week and a half, and will be home on May 5th. woot woot. It'll go by quick, or atleast I hope it does, hahaha.

If His grace is an ocean, we're all sinking.

Today has been fun so far! I had lunch with Becca, and Adam today at Papas and Water ahem Beer. haha. It was great getting to see them! It also makes me happy that in just a little over 9 months, I will be back in Asheville for a while. :) Tonight is the follow up for Journey #22 (the one this last January, that was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G). Katie (my sister) and I are going together.

I'm not ready at all to head back to school. I love WCU, don't get me wrong. It's just hard leaving a place where you have so many connections, and feel so at ease driving around town, knowing exactly where you're going, etc... Now like I said, I love WCU, and I love all of the amazing friends that I have there, and it will be SUPER hard leaving there in December for Internship. But, I know that God's timing is perfect, and everything will work out. :)

Second day of lists? I beleive so! The second days list consisted of, things I am good at. This was very hard for me to do. I really don't like talking about things I'm good at. So it was hard to come up with this list. However, I'm embracing it. Here we go:

***Things I'm good at:

- Making people laugh
- Listening
- Organized(ish)
- Understanding
- Caring
- Being thoughtful
- Trying new things
- Being creative
- Witty
- Thinking outside of the box
- Sleeping
- People watching

This is hard.

I originally typed this in a word document, and yes, I really did write "This is hard." in the word document. haha.

Have a wonderful night y'all!

Spring break, where did you go?

Wow! What an awesome spring break it has been. I've been busy, but have enjoyed everything that has occured. I'm not ready to go back to school on Sunday. But I guess that all good things must come to an end. I guess the hardest part is going back knowing that I will be super busy, and won't have a break till Easter (which is a month and a half). Anywho, my dear friend Brooke wrote on her blog about how these other people on blogspot are making lists for everyday. It's a little something to get to know yourself better, and for other people to get to know you better. I have decided to partake in this event, and will begin right...about...NOW...

Day One: A few things about me...

- I have lived in the same house all of my life.
- Family means a lot to me.
- I have some of the greatest friends a girl could ask for.
- I am a Christian, and am by no means perfect. I mess up every day, and with God's amazing grace, I am forgiven.
- I make mistakes daily. I look at them as a learning experience.
- My favortie color is pink.
- I once wanted to be a Wedding Planner, and own a wedding shop. After working at a Bridal retail store (and absolutely hating it), I soon realized that this was not the path for me.
- I am an Elementary Education major at Western Carolina Universtiy. I am also a Sociology minor.
- I've had my Jeep since my junior year of high school.
- I am the oldest sister.
- Asheville will always be home.
- Camp Tekoa has a very special place in my heart.
- I like to cook.
- I am always blown away at God's amazing timing.
- I hate the words "bucks", and "chunky".
- Hard-core Clemson fan.
- I tend to freak out if I don't know plans, almost to the point to where I can't sleep, or I get sick.
- I am a worry wart.
- I live by what my planner says.

:)

Spring Break...in February...

Good times occured today. I got my hairs cut. Yes, I did just say hairs cut. I'm not just getting one hair cut. I'm getting several cut, making it plural, hairs cut. :) I then called up my friend Dawn, and we decided to meet halfway, in the thriving metropolis of Wolf Laurel. We were expecting to find some shops since it was a ski town. However, there were absolutely none. So instead we drove around, did a little creeping, and then decided to hit up Mars Hill. As we were walking on campus, I remembered that a mutual friend of ours went to Mars Hill College, so we called her. She came out, and we went up to her office and talked with her for about 2 hours. It was great getting to catch up with them! :)

I'm on "spring" break this week, and am enjoying myself. It's nice being home, and not having any obligations. Because let's face it, that's all I do at school, obligation, after obligation.

I don't have anything else to write about, so I'll be telling a little fun fact about me on here...

- I don't like when people touch my face. I didn't notice till a couple of weeks ago that I did it. My friend told me that she was watching me, and whenever someone would put their hand up to my face I usually always back away. haha. Fun and random, I know.

alrighty. Peace out y'all.

2-14-11...bleh...

So if you haven't seen the title to this journal post, you should go check it out. In all of my classes today this is how I dated my notes. 2-14-11...bleh. I thought it was appropriate. haha. I am very happy for all of the couples out there, and want to wish all of y'all a Happy Valentines Day!

Today, I went to class from 9-2:15, and that was fun. I then had to stop by the library to return a broken DVD on "Reading Rainbow". While I was up at the CMC I saw one of my best friends, Aimee, and it made me smile. I then came back here, took a nap, woke up, watched 2 chick-flicks, and had a romantic dinner with myself that consisted of Panda Express...haha.

My sister came up here this weekend, and it was great getting to hang out with her!Melissa (Gibby) joined us for lunch on Saturday, and that was great. Brooke made a surprise visit, and that was fun getting to see her!

Avett Brothers were on the Grammy's last night! I didn't get to watch it, but I loved seeing all the facebook statuses being changed to something about the avett brothers on the grammys. :) So exciting for them! I saw them in Asheville New Years Eve 2009, and 2010. They are amazing! Oh! and I get to see them in April for Beth's b-day in CLT. :)

I don't have anything else to say...So, bye!

Take Care,
Amy

Home for the weekend.

I just remembered how I said that I wanted to keep this blog up and going. It's been 2 weeks since my last post, oops! However it is better than what I was doing. Here is what has happened in the last two weeks of my life...

Last weekend I went out to Hickory with some friends, and spent the weekend out there. I rode out there with my friend, Dawn. It was wonderful getting to catch up with her. We don't see each other alot anymore since we are both out of Asheville, and she's a wonderful fire woman. Once we arrived to the house of Brooke (the girl who lives in Hickory) the party began, and had a rockin' good time for the rest of the weekend. We had a wonderful time hanging out, taking pictures, eating food, and hanging out. :) I'm thinking about going out to Hickory sometime to observe in Brooke's class over spring break. :)

Sidenote: Spring break is February 28th through March 4th. I'll be home February 26th through March 6th. It'll be a nice break, but it's too early for my liking. haha. A break is a break though, and I'll take it. haha.

I came home this weekend, and have throughly enjoyed it. My best friend, Megan (who has just recently moved to Charlotte), called, and was like "Hey! I'm coming into town!". I had a slight freak out, because I haven't seen her since December, and what are the chances of us being in the same town, on the same weekend? Very unlikely. So we got together, and went downtown to this precious wine bar downtown. I have never seen anything so cute before. You walk in, and theres a bar, with a lobby, and when you walk around some more there are hundreds and hundreds of books on the shelves (that are also for sale). Precious. Absolutely precious.

At one point while talking, we were talking about how much we love Asheville. It's so very true. Asheville will always be home. I think I've realized just how much I love Asheville while being away from it for the past year. You don't really realize how much you miss something until it's gone. I love Cullowhee, don't get me wrong. But home will always be Asheville. It's a quaint, small, beautiful little mountain town. :) I can't wait to move back here for good in December.

I'm starting to get busy with classes. I have three assignments that I have to work on this weekend. Have I started any of them? Nope. But somehow, some way they will get done. They always do. haha.

That's all for this post y'all. Have a wonderful day!

It's been a while...

Hey Y'all!

I know it's been a while since I've posted on here. I think July was the last time? I don't know. But, a lot of things have happened since then. I had an episode of 3 kidney stones that made me leave camp a week earlier than expected. I moved into a private room at Western, and absolutely love it. I passed the Praxis. I got into the Education Department at Western. I made a 3.116 last semester. I was snowed in for a week at my house during Christmas break. That's really all I can think about at the moment.

Last weekend we had a Journey weekend with Mountain Ridge Chrysalis. Boy, was it amazing! God's love never ceases to amaze me. I'm still being blessed from the weekend, and that was over a week ago! God's amazing. Take the time today to realize just how much God truly loves you. It's an indescribable feeling that nothing here on Earth can ever replace.

This is my last semster here at WCU before I'm in a school system. I start Block (going into the schools one day a week) next fall, and am VERY excited about that. Then in the Spring 2012 I start Intern 1 (2-3 days a week in the school), and then in the fall 2012 I begin Intern 2 which is the full out student teaching, where I will be in the school 5 days a week.

I've decided to move back home to Asheville for my intern 1 and intern 2 semesters. I'm very excited about moving back home. It will definitely be an adjustment, but in the long run it's going to be what is most cost effective. I'm hoping to be placed in an Asheville City school. That way I can tell if what I've always wanted to do (teach in an inner city school) is what I really want to do for the rest of my life, or if I want to just teach in a regular county school. I'm excited about it. :)

I'm also heading back to Camp Tekoa for the summer, where I will be the Day Camp Director again. Out of my 3 summers at Camp, last year was by far my favorite, because of what I did all summer. I have a feeling that this will be my last summer, which stinks but, sometimes all good things must come to an end.

I really can't think of anything else to say. I'm going to try my absolute hardest to write in this thing more often. We'll see how that goes...haha.

Take Care!

- Amy
